Silicone hump hose has a bulge in it that is designed to allow the joint to flex. Silicone hump hose allows for expansion and movement between pipes. By allowing a little flex in things you have less chance of pulling connections loose and there is less stress on the rest of piping. They also allow for slight misalignment between pipes.
